Even though Tioman feels like a remote island paradise, it’s surprisingly well connected. Please choose whether you’ll be coming from (or via) Kuala Lumpur or Singapore.
Do book your ferry to Tioman Island early and in advance especially during the peak season and weekends.
How to Get to Tioman Island from Kuala Lumpur (KL)
By Sea:
You can travel from KL to Tanjung gemok or Mersing on mainland Malaysia by bus or taxi. This would take five to six hours. Ferries depart regularly throughout the day from Mersing to Tioman Island. Please booked your ferry early before your arrival at www.cataferry.com
Guests are responsible for their own travel arrangements to and from Tioman Island, and we kindly request to notify us in advance the time of arrival and departure in order for us to coordinate Boat Pick Up and Send Off to/from Bagus Place.
Via Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA)/ Low Cost Carrier Terminal (LCCT)/ Subang Airport
Options:
- 45 minutes – 1 hour (60km) to Kuala Lumpur city centre either via taxi or bus.
- KLIA Express Train to city (KL Sentral) – 28 mins at RM35.00 per pax one way. https://www.kliaekspres.com/
- Stay overnight in the city centre and take a taxi or bus to the ferry terminal (5-6 hours).
- Direct from Airport to Ferry Terminal (5 – 6 hours). You may opt to stay overnight at a hotel near the airport and continue your journey the next morning.

How to Get to Tioman Island from Singapore
Taxi Direct to Tanjung gemok or Mersing:
Take a taxi or bus to go across the causeway to Johor, Malaysia and onwards to tanjung gemok or Mersing Ferry Terminal (3 – 4 hours)

Ferry to Tioman Island
There are two ferry terminals which is located in two different states.
- Tanjung Gemok in Pahang state
Note that if you are taking the ferry from Tanjung Gemok Jetty, the Marine Park Malaysia imposes a Conservation Fee of RM5.00 per pax.You need to pay upon arrival at Tioman Island. - Mersing in Johor state
Note that if you are taking the ferry from Mersing Jetty, the Johor National Park Corporation imposes a Conservation Fee of RM20.00 per pax (Non-Malaysians). At Tioman Island, the Marine Park Malaysia imposes a Conservation Fee of RM5.00 per pax. You need to pay upon arrival at Tioman Island.Total Conservation Fees to pay if you depart from Mersing Ferry Terminal is RM25.00.The ferry service timing is subject to the tides. You will need to contact the ticket agent to verify the timing a day before departure.
Do request for the latest ferry schedule and book your ferry tickets in advance.

After you have booked your ferry tickets, kindly inform us your ferry departure time.
Ferry Drop off point at Genting Jetty, Tioman Island
Our boat will pick you up at Genting, and Speed boat transfer to Bagus Place (20 mins)
You will be provided with the phone number of the person picking you up and will be asked to provide your phone number.
It is best to send an SMS just before boarding the ferry so that we can be there when you arrive.
NOTICE:
We advice to take the ferry departing no later than 3.00pm so that you will arrive at Tioman Island before dark. There will be no pick-up at dusk/night time.
