Bagus Place Retreat – An Eco-friendly Resort

Bagus Place Retreat, is located on the southern part of Tioman Island, which is relatively unspoilt and blessed with an amazing view of the Twin Peaks mountain. Tioman Island is a gazetted marine park conservation area, home to a rich terrestrial and marine biodiversity.

From its initial conception, Bagus Place Retreat has been developed to co-exist with the surrounding environment and to work with the local community to promote the beauty of Tioman island itself.

We have used local suppliers and contractors in the development of Bagus Place.  We employ people who live in the nearby village of Mukut to help us run Bagus Place.  Our food and other supplies are locally produced wherever possible, providing benefit to the local economy.  We take an active role in shaping the way Tioman is developing. Here at Bagus Place we’re aware of our responsibility to keep Tioman flourishing.

A RETREAT

In perfect harmony with the coastal rainforest environment

The main attraction to Bagus Place is its ecologically built chalets nestled naturally between the sea and the rainforest, offering guests enjoyment of an unspoiled paradise.

Closeness to the marine life and wildlife

Guests are able spot a variety of wildlife within the resort vicinity such as monkeys, squirrels, bats and sea-eagles, while snorkelling at our jetty one can view the beautiful corals, many types of coral fishes and some resident turtles.

Small Capacity

There are only nine chalets and the maximum guests that we carry at any one time are 25-30 persons only. Due to its small capacity, guests are given a more personalised service and friendly interaction with the local staff.

They also develop new friendships with other guests from other parts of the world. Well over 95% of our guests are from Europe and they prefer low density resorts.

Fun and Relax for Everyone!

The lush jungle and clear waters provide plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities for families with young kids and teenagers. For the active ones, plenty to do such as a nature walk, snorkel, kayak, play beach ball games, read a book, relax with a delicious cocktail, or just go fishing and get the chef to cook your catch.

For couples, they can retreat in their private chalet with stunning seaviews, bask at the sun-loungers on the secluded beach, sail into the sunset sipping cocktails, hang out at the breezy gazebo and enjoy romantic dining by the beach.

Local Malaysian cuisine and culture

Tasting our Malaysian cuisine has been the most appraised experience by our guests.  Most of the ingredients are locally sourced, while seafood is obtained fresh from the local fishermen. One of the highlights is our buffet dinner which is served with everyone having the dinner as a family in one sitting.

A Peaceful Getaway & Retreat

Upon arriving you will be enveloped by a peaceful sense of hospitality, a home away from home – where you can rest and relax away from the bustling city life. The plus point of Bagus Place is being an ALL-INCLUSIVE Resort, where guests are provided with daily meals, tea & coffee, and personalised pick-up and send off speedboat transfers from airport/jetty – enabling guests to sit-back and just enjoy the whole experience of a hassle-free holiday.

To sum it up, it is our warm Malaysian hospitality in its natural setting that gives our Guests a unique and authentic holiday experience!

Please be informed you that our Resort is closed for 2021 due to extensive maintenance works and rescheduled to reopen by March 2022.
